Hey guys, wanted to let you know that I had a call from Charles Begley to let me know he is scheduled for surgery on March 11 at the Lexington VA Hospital. Said he may be there for up to 4 or 5 weeks. So if anyone lives near there or is passing through, I'm sure he would enjoy a visit. His son will keep me updated and I'll pass it along. Send some good thoughts his way.

The registrations for the 2013 reunion in Branson are coming in. About 15 of us, plus spouses, have registered so far. Please remember that if you send your registration by March 31st you will qualify for the “Early Bird” drawing held during the reunion – an opportunity to win some great prizes. For additional information on the reunion, please refer to the Reunion News Tab. At various times between now and the reunion, I will post the names of those who are registered so you will know who is attending – but first I have to remember how to do that. All this new stuff is making me old!

Willie dont know if i can get off work then, i know poor excuse, will work on it. Ive got bunch of pictures i need to post, both of the 589th and also the84th engrs. will have to figure out what goes where, you know such a thing called c.r.s. disease!! will work on the time for the reunion though.

Bob Miller, I bought Al's book before the reunion and read it. I got Al to sign mine at the reunion. It is one of the best books I ever read. I was there when the VC blew the hole in the bridge east of An Kie. My Plt repaired the Hole. I have some bad members of that place. Try to come to the reunion inSept.

Just finished reading Depth Of Field by Al Carlisle on my way back to Tenn. from visiting family in 29palms Calif. WoW ! what a good book. Brought back memories from Phan Rang and "the nam" in general. Everyone associated with the 589th over any time should read it. Thanks Al! Never met you but after reading your book it felt like we were there with you. God Bless you and your family!!

Hell-o! Is anybody home? Been awhile since anybody wrote anything so I am hoping everyone is all right. I guess you all are getting ready for the reunion and afraid you might be asked to be an officer and replace us that are in now. You can't be elected unless nominated so I hope you are thinking about who is going to replace us--especially Perry! Hope everyone is well and hope to see somebody else post something! Happy New Year to all my 589th brothers and their familys. Hope 2013 brings all of you many blessings. Would still like to hear from guys from Aco that was in phanrang from May70 to Apr 71. I got transferred to C co 815th engrs up towards Dalat or that vicinity from apr71 just until june 71 then to camrahn to come home at the end of june. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

happy holidays brothers have a great new year , and does any one heer from pat smasne he was also on the pope with us . after i got out of the army i went to work building roads , i was in the mountains near canada running a 980 loader , the forman was a guy with a long beard . and at luch he came up and sit down beside me and ask me if i was in the army and i told him yes , engineers and he ask what unit, i told him 589th and thats when i jumped up and hugged me and said who he was , it was a reunion in its sell , i went on for another 28 years running equipment ,i havent seen or heard from pat smasne sence , thanks for listing . carp

Can't believe another year has passed and it is Christmas time already. May all my Brothers have a very Blessed Christmas and a safe New Year! Remember all those we have loss this year and years past. If you are travelling be safe! Say a prayer for our Troops who guard and protect us today and hope that they are safe and whole. Always thank every Vet you see! It makes them feel good and if you are like me it makes me feel good and I meet some great people! Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! Hope to see you all in September.
