Perry, wanted to let you know that my Daddy, Billy Mack Brown, passed away yesterday 10/05/24. His obituary is listed at Purvis Funeral in Adel, Georgia. I wished my Dad had of been able to attend this past reunion. Thank you for all you do. amy

I just heard that Sgt. John Juett of both A Company and the 51st Asphalt Ptn in 1967-1968 passed away in 2023.

His Obituary follows:

John A Juett
August 11, 1936 — October 21, 2023
     Mr. John A. Juett, 87, of Clayton, passed away at 4:31 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
     Born August 11, 1936, in Quincy, John was the son of Ernest and Rose F Vollbracht Juett.
     John was a 1955 graduate of Augusta High School and attended Western Illinois University where he received his engineering certificate. He enlisted in the US Army in June of 1958. John started his military career at Ft. Leonard Wood. He was stationed at numerous bases throughout the United States during his career. He also spent several tours of duty overseas with the 553rd Engineers Company A 1st Battalion including time in; Orleans, France, from 62-65, Soul, South Korea, three tours in Saigon, Vietnam in the late 60s, Bangkok, Thailand, again in Vietnam from 71-72, before finally landing in Germany in 1977 until his retirement in 1981. Throughout his 23-year military career, John received a multitude of awards and medals including a Bronze Star during his service in Vietnam. 
     John was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, and basketball, and was an exceptional bowler.
     In most recent years, John spent his time on the farm.

I heard from Tommy McLain's family today. They asked that I let Tommy's 589th brothers know that he isn't doing well. I was told that hospice has been called in.

We missed you and Mary too. So sad that we have so many of our Brothers and their family members dealing with these health issues. You were missed Brother. God bless you and Mary.

Wish you could have made Clyde. But we understand. You're not alone Brother. We had almost 50 guys planning to attend but only 25 showed up. Mainly due to health related issues.

We will plan to have another one next year.

To all my 589th brothers. Thanks for the card remembering Mary and I at this year's reunion. Father Time and the war has taken a toll on our old bodies. This is the first reunion I have ever missed, and we are saddened by the fact. Hope we can make one again in the future. Miss you guys.

I am thinking of all my brothers at the reunion. I am sorry I could not attend this year due to health issues. Hopefully next year will be better and I will see you all then. Welcome home brothers. Love you all!
