Paul, I remember a bridge getting a big hole blown in it just east of an kya. The VC killed all of the 173rd guards except one. My PLT had to patch the hole in the bridge. I was ready to get the hell out of that place. I done my second tour south of Long Ben with the 92nd. It was near as bad as the 1st one was. I didn't like much doing 3 tours. I think the Army like for me to be in Nam.Take care

Paul, I remember QL19 very well. On 11 MAR 1968, I was trying to drive piles for a bridge and we got hit with RPG's but we won the battle. I only had 29 days to go until DEROS. We all came out alive. Never will forget that day.

The coordinates of 13.865869 109.013493 appear to fit like a glove.I drew a line to phu cat air base from the coordinates 6.27 miles and a azimuth of 22.30. I remember watching the air base getting hit at night from one of the OP's I also remember going to a village west and north of the base and and seeing an old cham tower that was pictured on the map. We used to wash our 3/4 in the river west of us on QL 19. A morning of memories thanks to our members and Google Earth.
